We are pleased to announce our continuous effort to decrease single-use plastics in our guest rooms. As part of this commitment, we have made a significant decision to remove single-use dry amenities, marking a bold move towards a plastic-free environment.
Recognising the significance of conserving our planet for future generations, we have eliminated single-use plastic amenities like toothbrushes, combs, and shower caps from our guest rooms. This action greatly reduces our environmental impact. Guests may now request dry amenities by calling or visiting our welcoming team at reception.
As part of our continuing efforts, we have chosen to transition to large-format amenities, replacing our single-use plastic common amenities with eco-friendly pump dispensers across the hotel. By removing single-use plastic bottles, we are greatly reducing the waste generated by our operations. This commitment aligns with our dedication to environmental stewardship and demonstrates our ongoing efforts to enhance sustainability throughout our hotel.
As part of our commitment to enhancing guest satisfaction and promoting sustainability, we've installed a plumbed water dispenser in the lobby, along with glass cups for guest use. Guests are encouraged to use the provided glasses or refill their own reusable water bottles, reducing the reliance on single-use plastic.
All pillows and protectors throughout the resort are supplied by Vendella, our sustainable partner, crafted entirely from 100% recycled bottles.
At Mantra Aqueous, all hotel waste is sorted into co-mingled, cardboard, food waste, and general waste categories, reducing our impact on landfill. Additionally, we have partnered with a local sports team through the Containers for Change initiative to support community bottle recycling efforts.
We are dedicated to fostering strong ties with our local community and contributing wherever we can. This includes sponsoring and collaborating with local schools, sports teams, and community events. Our loyalty amenities are sourced from local suppliers and prominently featured throughout our rooms. Additionally, we work closely with local tour partners and transportation companies, supporting local industries as part of our ongoing commitment.
We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which Mantra Aqueous Port Douglas resides, the Kuku Yalanji people. We honour their Elders past, present, and emerging, and recognize their enduring connection to land, waters, and culture. We extend our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who visit and stay with us today.
At Mantra Aqueous Port Douglas, our apartments are designed with standard dimensions featuring narrow doorways and corridors, which may pose challenges for guests using mobility aids such as wheelchairs or walkers. The design does not include modifications to accommodate accessibility needs in terms of doorway width or bathroom layout.
We understand the importance of accessibility for our guests. While we do not have dedicated accessible rooms, we strive to ensure a comfortable stay for all guests through spacious layouts and open-plan designs that facilitate ease of movement within the living areas and bedrooms. Our dedicated staff are available to assist with any specific accessibility needs or requests, ensuring that every guest enjoys a comfortable and memorable experience.
